Cotahuasi Valley and Canyon, located northeast of Arequipa in the province of La Union, this valley is made up of fanciful platforms that appear to hang in mid air and, a large number of waterfalls.
* First day : Leave in by the afternoon by bus.
* Second day : Arrival in Cotahuasi, tour of the city, Chayme bridge, neighbouring villages: the ruins of Collota, Taurisma, Alca and the Luicho hot springs.
* Third day : Visit to waterfalls of Sipia, a taste of the deepest Canyon in the world, an hour by car, the rest is an hour and a half walk.
* Fourth day : Visit of the Ruins of Maukallacta and the village of Puyca. Return to the city of Arequipa by public bus, arriving the following day.
1.- Toro Muerto Stone Sculptures.
Leaving Arequipa, taking the route towards Lima you will find the fabulous stone sculpture complex known as Toro Muerto. Here one can appreciate animal shapes and others from the Huari and Chuquibamba cultures.
2.- Sumbay Caves, located behind the Misti volcano. The significance of Sumbay lies in its archeological resources and its caves which exhibit valuable rock paintings from the Paleolitic Era.
3.-Andahua : Valley of the Volcanoes: Located in the eastern part of Castilla Province this Valley posseses a spectacular beauty due to the presence of a multitude of small extingueshed volcanoes that according to studies have an age between 1 million years and 50,000 years.
First day : Depart for Nasca at night by bus (10 hours).
Second day : Arrival in Nasca, breakfast, a flight over the Nasca Lines, visit to the Cemetery of Chaullicha, trip to Pisco, and a night in a Hotel.
Third day : Visit to the Island Cross-bows and return to Arequipa.
The Colca Valley and its Canyon (3400 m deep). There, the traveler will find a landscape surronded by andenes (terraces), snowy peaks and towns founded in the XVI century, the Colca Canyon is an exciting place for Adventure Tourism
2 day tour:
Day 1 : Leave about 8:00 a.m. On the way you will see vicuñas, alpacas, llamas, vizcachas and yaretas (this plant grows only above 4000 m) and you will see the typical
landscape of the Andes. After stopping at the highest point (4900 m) to view the volcanoes and snow capped mountains, you descend to Chivay (3600 m) for lunch and go to your hotel. In the afternoon you visit the nearby hot springs and swim if you want.
Day 2 : Early departure to drive along the beautiful Colca Valley with 6000 Ha. of terraces formed by pre-inca civilisations.
Because the different levels in the valley produce a micro-climate, a greater variety of crops are grown here.
Finally you reach the deepest part of the Canyon, much deeper than the Grand Canyon of Colorado. Here you will see the flight of the condors.
Return to Chivay for lunch stopping in the villages and afterwards to Arequipa (about 5:00 p.m.)
